Radiology

Offering the most advanced, most innovative radiologic services available

The Radiology Department at Hurley Medical Center offers some of the most advanced diagnostic imaging techniques and interventional radiologic procedures available in Michigan and across the country. Each year, we perform more than 125,000 procedures, of which approximately 3,500 are interventional procedures.

We are committed to providing the highest levels of diagnostic and treatment services to our patients. Our team of board certified radiologists—including interventional radiologists, neuroradiologists and pediatric radiologists—works closely with physicians and staff throughout Hurley Medical Center to provide the most effective diagnoses and treatments possible.

Interventional Radiology: highly specialized minimally invasive procedures instead of surgery

A rapidly growing sub-specialty of radiology, interventional radiology enables physicians to perform a number of highly effective, minimally invasive treatment procedures as alternatives to traditional surgery. Examples include biopsies, removal of kidney stones, dissolving blood clots, and more complex procedures such as uterine artery embolization (UAE) and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD).

State-of-the-art diagnostic imaging equipment

Hurley provides the full spectrum of diagnostic radiology services, including general thoracic, abdominal and musculoskeletal radiology, ultrasound, and a fully accredited mammography service. Hurley Medical Center was the first hospital in Genesee County to acquire and implement a 64-slice Siemens CT scanner, and we have recently installed the first Optima MR450w magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system from GE Healthcare at a Genesee County hospital.

These new technologies further improve our diagnostic capabilities and provide a more comfortable experience for our patients. Also, now patients and their families do not need to travel to another facility to benefit from these advanced imaging systems.
