Phyllis Tunis, MSW, ACSW, LMSW

Phyllis Tunis is the clinical director at HMHA. She attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a Master of Social Work degree. She has worked with children and families with a variety of needs for 25 years. Some of her areas of interest include depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention deficit, and school problems. Her treatment approach is a mixture of insight-oriented and cognitive-behavioral therapies. When working with minors, she actively involves the parents. Her philosophy is that therapy is an hour a week while parenting is 168 hours a week, so parents must understand their child’s emotional issues and learn how to effectively work with them if change will be lasting.
