Spine Neurosurgeon, Dr. Marc Moisi has moved from southeast Michigan to become Director of Neurosurgery at Hurley Medical Center, where he will be a beacon for specialized care in Mid-Michigan, Northern Michigan, and the Thumb. Centrally located at Hurley Neurological Center in Fenton, Dr. Moisi is now positioned to provide patients statewide with an added level of specialized care they can utilize for complex issues, second opinions, and innovative treatment.

Dr. Marc Moisi, Neurosurgeon
Fellowship-trained as a Complex and Minimally Invasive Spine Neurosurgeon, Dr. Moisi can take care of patients no matter how complex their health issues may be. Many take comfort in knowing he doesn’t believe in rushing to surgery. Regarding his approach to patient care, he says “It’s an individualized patient-centric approach that brings comfort to patients and their families…I believe surgical interventions should only be performed when it is in the patient's best interest after reviewing and exhausting all conservative and non-surgical options.” Through Hurley Medical Center, patients will have access to a suite of services including physical therapists, rehab specialists and pain specialists, all focused on spine care and helping them finally get better.
Dr. Moisi’s approach to patient care is informed by a history of rigorous education, research, and experience caring for patients. After completing his medical degree at New York University he went on to complete an internship in general surgery at Cornell University, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He then completed a residency in neurological surgery at Wayne State University, Methodist Hospital, followed by a fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery at the Swedish Neuroscience Institute. Beyond his education, Dr. Moisi has authored over 45 peer-reviewed publications and multiple book chapters. He is also on the editorial board of several journals and is involved with translational and clinical research involving anatomical, biomechanical, and oncologic problems of the spine.
Dr. Moisi’s ultra-conservative and collaborative approach to spine treatments can provide care to any patient, no matter how complex their issue. His goal when working with patients, he says, “is to develop an individualized patient-centric treatment plan to get the most positive results.” With the Hurley Neurological Center, patients will have access to the specific, specialized treatment options that address their individual needs to get them back to the activities that they love.
Dr. Christian Bowers, Neurosurgeon
Dr. Bowers graduated from Georgetown medical school and completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Utah. He is distinguished for his expertise in neurosurgical oncology (brain tumors), skull base, and cerebrovascular neurosurgery.
Dr. Bowers is one of the most productive neurosurgical researchers in the world, cited each year as being in the top 5% most cited medical researchers (Doximity). He has won multiple national awards, including the 2015 American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) Synthes Skull Base Award and the 2019 NREF Young Clinical Investigator Award.
Dr. Bowers has held key academic and administrative positions at Westchester Medical Center and the University of New Mexico, including program director of the Neurosurgery residency training program and vice chair of clinical affairs for the Department of Neurosurgery. He successfully regained accreditation for the neurosurgical residency training program in record-setting time of less than 2 years. He also exponentially grew the skull base and brain tumor practice, earning recognition as a North American Skull Base Society (NASBS) multidisciplinary site of distinction.
Currently, Dr. Bowers is the director of Neurosurgical Oncology at the Hurley Neurological Center and leads a prolific Neurosurgical Frailty research Lab, mentoring more than 2 dozen students and learners each year. The lab publishes 30+ scientific manuscripts each year and is invited to present multiple national and regional lectures each year as the world’s leading expert researcher on frailty in neurosurgical patients.
