Inpatient Senior Services
ACE Unit – Acute Care for the Elderly
The region’s only nursing unit designed and equipped for patients 65 and older. Features include warm home-like setting, low glare lighting, non-skid flooring, lower beds and spacious handicap bathrooms that provide extra levels of safety and care for our seniors.
Geriatric Nurse Specialists
Hurley is the only hospital in the area with specially trained nurses to care for older adults. Our Geriatric Nurse Specialists support the physicians and bedside nurses in caring for the unique needs of senior by promoting early mobility, preventing confusion, and ensuring optimal nutrition wellness.
Geriatric Fracture Center
As a Level 1 Trauma Center, Hurley is the only hospital in the area qualified to manage geriatric fractures. Our Geriatric Fracture Center offers a planned course of treatment that encourages an optimal recovery.

Safe Steps/Physical Therapy
Hurley Safe Steps is a customized physical therapy intervention program for the evaluation and treatment of the balance and coordination problems which lead to falls in older adults. No-Wait Emergency Room
Patients 65 and older are fast-tracked in our Emergency Department. No wait means seniors are immediately taken to a room and quickly seen and treated by staff trained to care for geriatric patients.

Convenient Parking at Hurley Medical Center
Convening parking at Hurley Medical Center is also made available to seniors, including free handicapped lots adjacent to the hospital entrance, a visitor lot with free shuttle service and valet parking for a small fee. The Hurley Lobby Shop also offers a 5-pack of valet parking booklets at discount.
