At Hurley Medical Center, our #1 goal is for you to be healthy.
Whatever your age–teenager to older woman–Hurley’s OB/GYN Clinic is here for you, with well-woman care, health education, and preventative health screening tests, such as clinical breast exams and Pap smears. At Hurley, preventing future problems is as important to us as treating any present concerns you may have.
If you are pregnant, we feel that having the same doctor throughout your pregnancy is important. In our OB/GYN Clinic, you will be assigned a doctor and will see that same doctor all the way through your pregnancy until you deliver.
Hurley’s OB/GYN Clinic offers complete obstetric and gynecological care including:
- contraception and family planning advice
- prenatal care
- high risk prenatal care by a perinatologist (an obstetrician who specializes in maternal fetal medicine)
- colposcopy
- biopsy procedures
- the treatment of endometriosis, uterine fibroid tumors and other conditions
- surgical interventions such as hysterectomies or bladder procedures for incontinence
Expert care for high risk pregnancies
For pregnancies that show signs of possible complications, we direct patients to our High Risk Pregnancy Clinic, part of the Hurley Center for Maternal Fetal Medicine which is managed by a Hurley perinatologist. Here, we perform ultrasounds and fetal monitoring on pregnant high risk patients.
Diabetes management during your pregnancy
In Hurley’s OB/GYN Clinic, all patients at their initial obstetrical visit are screened for diabetes. If they show signs of diabetes or pre-diabetes, they are referred to one of our three registered diabetic nurse educators who are specifically dedicated to helping women manage their diabetes while pregnant. Our nurse educators will then put these patients in contact with Hurley’s Diabetes During Pregnancy education classes which are the best in the area. Pregnant diabetic patients are also referred to our registered obstetrical dietician who will provide them with nutrition care specific to a diabetic pregnancy.
