Sports Medicine: Injury Prevention

At Hurley, we believe the best cure for a sports-related injury is to prevent it from occurring in the first place.

The board certified orthopedic surgeons at Hurley Medical Center are highly skilled at repairing injuries, and our physical therapists work with patients to help them recover from accidents and illness. At Hurley, we are also committed to providing training, education and programs that help athletes of all ages identify potential risks associated with athletic and fitness activities and avoid the types of traumatic and repetitive injuries that can sideline them temporarily or permanently.

We offer fitness classes, physical therapy and hopefully, the prevention of injuries

We offer a range of fitness classes and personal training programs at the Hurley Health & Fitness Center. In addition, working with the SportsCare team of physical therapists from Hurley’s Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Services department, we have developed a number of multidisciplinary programs aimed at helping athletes prevent injuries.

For example, female athletes are much more likely than male athletes to experience an ACL injury during their sports careers. In response, we have developed the Jump Right program for female athletes ages 12-18, which teaches young women how to add stretching, conditioning exercises and coordination training into their athletic workouts.
