Specialized care for children and adults who have been in an accident or
have chronic disabilities

At the Hurley Inpatient Rehabilitation Center, our goal is to help people regain as much of their independence as possible in order to return to their homes, jobs and lifestyles. Within the unit, treatment is given by a highly skilled team specializing in rehabilitation.There are 22 beds, including a separate area for patients with moderate to severe brain injuries.

Our team physician is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Patients may also be treated by adult or pediatric neuropsychologists, rehabilitation nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and/or speech and language pathologists. A social worker helps plan your discharge to home and provides follow-up planning.

Adults and children who have been treated for serious conditions in other units of Hurley Medical Center, or are in other hospitals, may be admitted for intensive medical, nursing and therapy treatment. Patients regularly come to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center from the following areas:

• Hurley Burn Unit
• Hurley Level 1 Trauma Center
• Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care units
• Critical-care units
• Surgical units
• Center for Joint Replacement
• Other area hospitals
