Occupational Therapy
Regain your life
Occupational therapy involves much more than simply helping injured or ill patients to find new ways to do familiar tasks. One aspect of occupational therapy is focused on helping people resume their careers or to learn new or replacement skills. The overall goal of occupational therapy is to help people regain their ability to perform the tasks associated with daily living.
A specialized program designed around you
The occupational therapy programs at Hurley Medical Center are designed to help all patients with injuries, illnesses or chronic conditions. Your own unique goals and family circumstances are our top priorities and help us to develop a plan of action that meets your needs and that you will be more likely to complete.
Your participation is the key to success
Patient education is a critical component of occupational therapy. You will be taught specific exercises and tasks to perform, some of which can be done at home and others of which are done with the supervision of the occupational therapist. As treatment for your hand injury or condition concludes, the occupational therapist will often continue to work side-by-side with physical therapists to devise solutions that address the challenges you face.
