The Orthopedics Department at Hurley Medical Center provides full-spectrum diagnostic, treatment, and surgical services designed to help prevent and treat injuries and conditions affecting bones, muscles, joints and related structures. We are committed to providing the highest level of patient- and family-centered medical care to our patients, combining state-of-the-art treatment efforts with educational and support services that lead to faster recovery and positive long-term outcomes.
Our orthopedists have particular experience in the following areas of specialization:
- Center for Joint Replacement
- Sports Medicine
- Spine Center
- Hand and Upper Extremities
- Foot and Ankle
- Rheumatology and Arthritis
- Rehabilitation
Orthopedic diseases and injuries are wide-ranging and often arise in conjunction with other medical conditions. We regularly treat patients ranging from newborns in Hurley Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to seniors requiring knee or hip replacement at our Center for Joint Replacement. In addition to identifying treatment and rehabilitation options that best meet a patient’s individual needs and circumstances, the orthopedic physicians at Hurley work closely with primary care physicians, rheumatologists, neurologists, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, physical therapists and other medical professionals to provide the most effective diagnoses and treatments possible. Our goal is to heal the entire patient and not just a specific set of symptoms.
A highly skilled team of experts
Our physicians are highly trained, board-certified surgeons with years of experience treating patients in the examination room, the operating theater and the rehabilitation facility. We also provide skilled, on-call surgical support for the Hurley Trauma Center, the region’s only Level I-certified facility, which treats critically injured patients from throughout Michigan.
Our physicians are on the front lines of new treatment methodologies, having performed a number of “first in the region” procedures, including artificial lumbar disc replacement and expandable hydro cage techniques for vertebral reconstruction. We are committed to sharing our knowledge with the next generation of medical professionals, and supervise residents and medical students during their orthopedics rotations.
We provide inpatient treatment at Hurley Medical Center as well as outpatient care at our Family Orthopedics Associates clinic.
