Nutrition Services
The following describes nutritional assessment and education at Hurley Medical Center. For specific information regarding your health and treatment options, please contact your Hurley physician or medical professional.
Nutrition affects how our bodies function, how wounds heal, how we fight disease, how we feel–our total health.
At Hurley Medical Center, our patients’ nutrition is a top priority. We have twelve full-time registered dietitians on staff to counsel and educate both inpatients and outpatients about their nutritional needs.
Nurse specialists evaluate each new patient for nutritional needs
When a patient is first admitted to Hurley, he/she is assessed by nurse specialists and may be recommended for a nutritional assessment. A member of a patient’s medical team may also request a registered dietitian to assess a patient. As part of Hurley’s commitment to the highest level of Patient- and Family-Centered Care, a patient’s family is always encouraged and invited to attend nutritional counseling and education.
