The new Paul F. Reinhart Emergency Trauma Center provides the most advanced adult and pediatric emergency and trauma care available anywhere.

State-of-the-Art Emergency Care

For many, Hurley's Emergency Department is the front door of our hospital, providing the highest level of emergency medical care 24/7, 365 days a year.

Critical Care Unit

The highest level of specialized clinical care for patients who are recovering from severe illness or trauma

Critically ill or injured patients require a higher level of care, often involving specialized, coordinated medical treatment and around-the-clock attention. The Critical Care Unit at Hurley Medical Center provides patients with safe, effective care and provides comprehensive support services to families whose loved ones have been hospitalized for severe illness or trauma.

A team of experts drawn from all areas of the hospital

Our board-certified critical care physicians and trauma surgeons, our highly trained nursing staff, and our cutting-edge technology enable us to provide focused, advanced medical care. Depending upon the unique medical needs and circumstances of each patient, we draw on resources from throughout Hurley Medical Center, including physician specialists, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation therapists and other medical professionals.

Compassionate, confidential support for patients and families

Severe or life-threatening injuries or illnesses—and the unique treatments required to address these problems—can raise a number of emotional issues that are very difficult for patients and their families to handle on their own. Our staff understands these concerns and is prepared to answer your questions and offer support. If you need additional support, Hurley Medical Center offers pastoral counselors 24 hours per day, as well as licensed psychologists and medical social workers who can help address your concerns.

Patient- and Family-Centered Care

Patient- and Family-Centered Care represents a profound change in the way health care is provided to individuals and their families. Doctors, nurses, patients, and their families become genuine partners in a patient’s treatment. Within this partnership, patients’ and families’ opinions and choices, as well as diverse backgrounds, are recognized and respected.

Rather than just telling our patients and their families what kind of treatment or surgery will be performed, our entire medical staff includes them in the decision-making process. Hurley physicians and nurses thoroughly explain all tests, surgical options, and potential outcomes involved with treatment, both positive and negative. This constant communication not only makes patients and families part of the medical team, it produces better results and increased patient safety.
