Hurley Medical Center Laboratory Now Available for All HealthPlus Patients

You can now send lab work for all of your HealthPlus patients to Hurley Medical Center. Recognized as a Joint Venture Hospital Laboratory (JVHL), Hurley is now an authorized laboratory provider for all HealthPlus programs. Before this, Hurley provided laboratory services only for HealthPlus Medicaid and GHP patients.

One lab, more convenience

This change will make it much more convenient for your office to use only one lab for these patients. HealthPlus will continue to reimburse physicians for the draw fee and the current office lab tests, such as urinalysis, lead, strep, etc. If you do not perform any lab services in your office, your patients may visit any of the Hurley laboratory draw sites (listed below). 

Working closely with JVHL

Hurley will work closely with JVHL to assure all laboratory values are sent to HealthPlus for any Pay-for-Performance programs and/or other patient quality activities. Additionally, the laboratory results will become part of your patient’s record, both in your office and in the hospital, for better continuity.

Hurley Laboratory Services is at the forefront of quality diagnostic laboratory analysis and reporting. With state-of-the-art, automated processes and technical expertise, we consistently live up to our mission of “Clinical Excellence. Service to People.”

Located inside Hurley Medical Center, our modern full service clinical laboratory performs 3.3 million tests per year with a staff of 75 full-time and 25 part-time employees, including four board-certified pathologists. All medical technologists, cytologists, and histologists are certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. We maintain the largest automated facility for clinical and pathology testing in the region and are proud members of the Joint Venture Hospital Laboratories (JVHL), a consortium of hospital laboratories providing outpatient laboratory services to Michigan residents. Our lab service centers are located at Hurley Medical Center and in several locations throughout the community.
