Our Community
As the safety-net provider for the Flint-Genesee County area, Hurley Medical Center is vitally important to the people of our community, and our community is vitally important to Hurley. Beyond caring for the sick and injured, our job is to transform the health of our community–to become our community’s partner in caring so that people can stay well, live healthier lives, and when they are sick, return to health faster and with better outcomes.
Committed to our transforming the health of our community
We routinely go outside our walls and into our surrounding neighborhoods, participating in health fairs, expos, and community fundraisers. Our doctors and nurses visit schools, places of worship, community groups, libraries, professional organizations, and assisted-living facilities. They talk to people about their health, but just as importantly, they conduct much-needed screenings which can identify potential problems or conditions.
We tackle obesity, diabetes, breast cancer and asthma head-on with family weight loss programs, nutrition counseling, diabetes education programs, mammogram screenings and home-based asthma disease management programs. And we don’t stop there. We continually look for new ways to reach the people in our community so that they can live healthier lives.
At Hurley, our genuine commitment to a healthy community is how we live out our mission of “Clinical Excellence. Service to People.”
