Hurley Medical Center
For years, listeners from all over mid-Michigan have tuned into “Blondie” every morning on 96.1 WHNN-FM radio – for music, laughter and entertaining conversation. “Blondie,” whose off-air name is Bonnie Holzhei, was laughing on the outside, while her health was no joking matter. “I weighed nearly 300 pounds and I was tired all the time. I was overweight, had heart problems, high blood pressure and borderline diabetes. I decided one day, enough was enough, so I started doing my research. I had just gotten re-married and I knew I wanted a nice long life with my husband. "Everywhere I turned pointed to Hurley – for their compassion, their skill, and of course their expertise in bariatric surgery.” Holzhei had gastric bypass surgery in 2006 and she hasn’t looked back since. She’s lost over 170 pounds and has a renewed life filled with health, hope and happiness. Today, she is off all her medications and she is grateful for the surgery that changed everything. “Thank goodness Hurley was here,” explains Holzhei. “They saved my life. Today, I can run and play with my granddaughter – something I could never do before. It’s changed my life so much for the better.” “Now, I have renewed confidence and can accomplish anything I put my mind to do,” adds Holzhei. “I lost 170 pounds and have kept it off, and I have no regrets. I’m just sorry I didn’t have the surgery years ago. Today (March 3rd) is my new birthday, because that’s the day of my surgery, when I started my new life.” “Hurley was there for me every step of the way and it’s been a great journey,” says Holzhei. “They provided the support I needed to take this step. Now, I know I will have a long, healthy and happy life, and it’s all because of Hurley Bariatric Center.” * To learn more about weight loss surgery options available at Hurley Bariatric Center, we encourage you to attend one of our free, no-obligation seminars.
